Success is in Sharing!
This is the third company where I am involved in sales bootstrapping. Each organization has given me an enriching experience, which has been the most worthy of these associations. What is the most important takeaway from these experiences? They say, if you succeed, enjoy success, if you don’t, learn from the failures. I have encountered various management philosophies of entrepreneurs, who have been reasonably successful in monetary terms. But what makes them ‘satisfied’ or feel ‘successful’? The answer is when they share the fruit of their hard labor with various stakeholders. Especially employees, down the hierarchy. I have seen these entrepreneurs walk down the aisle in the shop floor and asking the employee about how they are doing. But they also go another mile. They celebrate success – celebrations need not be extravagant, but it is the attention and acknowledgement to that is given to the efforts and contribution of all in these occasions. Metaplore completed its 2nd year anniversary on March 28th – just into the second week I had joined. It was a simple occasion, but a logical culmination of the second year journey. Introductions were made and everybody spoke. The founder felt a lump in his throat – as his thoughts jumped from his early days, to his trials to tribulations to triumphs; he walked us through all of that till date. He thanked his first employee, and invited him to launch the new website. And his old friends spoke. It was a happy hangover by the end of it all. But what stood out, really, was he shared the memento of success with everybody, and no one was spared from the profuse thanks..And then it hit home hard. It was not his success, but THEIRS.
